It was a busy Saturday last week. The bridesmaids arrived at Ochre Court on a warm breezy summer afternoon, and though it was a little warm inside, soon we were out for pictures on the lawn. The wedding party was quite a crew, and it was a lively set of pictures before heading for the reception at Bailey’s beach. I particularly like shooting at Bailey’s because of its pretty views, and the design of the cabanas. The sun will set just behind the hill, and the curve of the beach-houses with that late afternoon light….see it here.

A huge tropical mural made it’s way to the studio, care of Pat. it wasn’t in the door for 15 minutes before Kate and Bridget put it to use. No sunblock necessary!
I was at the beach for the part two of a half and half session for Nikki’s senior pix recently. A Half and half is a popular senior session where we shoot some inside studio images in Portsmouth, then head to the beach for a second set of images after 5. So you get a balanced set of traditional inside stuff, and some edgier beach stuff. You can bring a brush for your hair to the location shoot, but my advice is don’t count on making much use of it. Wind, sand and humidity will play a little havoc, but the picture will be genuine, and for me that’s what location is all about. I love the directional light and the wind and “seat of the pants” shooting plan. Got beach?
