Avatar (Websters.com) (n)Â Computers. a graphical image that represents a person, as on the Internet.
Blogs, Facebook, Myspace, the Knot, websites, etc. If you’re online you probably have one. That little picture that defines your presence online. If you do business online, it’s the equivalent to being your business card. Some examples I’ve seen are cartoon characters, camera phone pictures, and pictures that LOOK like they were taken with a camera phone. You know- crooked, goofy, badly lit, blurry. Some are cool. Many are not. Some business owners and professionals don’t even have one. Would you buy from someone you can’t see?  What’s your image say about you? Would you put it on your business card? A billboard? If you are using it online you already have. Don’t treat your online presence any less important than you do your printed materials. At Armor & Martel, we have been creating personalized, unique professional images for clients for web, and print for years. We understand the specifications you need for online images, resolutions and color too. Email or call us to find out how we can help you stand out in the crowd online. Even your avatar can be worth a thousand words. Let’s make your’s the right ones.

A great deal of my work takes place in studio, but a growing percentage is now on location. Cameras and lighting have become more compact, and its easier to provide affordable location work for clients that want images that are more personalised. We can photograph you at the studio and create professional images in a comfortable and expeditious manner when time is critical. Location photography creates a completely different set of images- be it a web image that showcases your business, or executive portraits at your new office. Would your professional image be enhanced by a powerful set of images that showcases your business space? Email or call us at the studio to discuss how Armor & Martel can help…

Publicity photos are frequently updated at this time of year. This type of session can range from the traditional corporate portrait to the edgier model portfolio session with multiple outfits, locations and dramatic lighting. Advertising these days requires a more serious approach to personal branding than in the past. Social networking sites, Professional sites, targeted direct mail and many other forms of advertising require more than copy- they need images. Sorry, that photo someone took of you with their cell phone won’t cut it. A professional portrait doesn’t have to be boring, and can show your true personality. The secret to a winning photo is choosing a photographer with experience photographing people. The correct perspective, the right lighting makes all the difference. Your personal brand sets you apart from your competition. Image counts-how’s yours?

The current economy is forcing many to rethink old habits and shake up ways we do business, and even communicate. So let me ask you, how’s your image? Is it time for a new one? Publicity images should be more these days than a an attractive picture of your head, especially in this business climate. For some corporate clients, the traditional image, suit and studio background is the norm and accepted image for web and publication. People today are subjected to thousands of images every day however- how will you stand out? I’ve added several new sessions on to the studio menu for professionals that want to do just that- separate themselves from the pack, whether it be bold color, lighting, or location. What else is necessary? Personality. Not just a smile, but a genuine expression, a person potential clients can connect with. The new publicity sessions allow for more choices with clothing, backgrounds and different “looks”- while making sure you look good. From business networking sites, Facebook or web presence and publication, an eye catching image can make all the difference. What does your image say?
