I went to a wedding and a party broke out! Really- it was in high gear when I arrived. Of course I knew it was going to be a great wedding. We filmed Katrina and TJ’s Cinema intro in the spring before the wedding date. From Oceancliff to the shooting in the bar upstairs at Pelham East, they were fun and a pleasure to work with. On the wedding day we met an amazing group that took part in their fabulous Newport wedding. Here’s the show- check out Toni Chandler’s flowers, at the ceremony- beautiful!
Here’s a clip from Tina and Ryan’s wedding at Astors’ recently. The ceremony blessing was delivered by a good friend. It’s an example of some of the “natural sound” that we mix with music on the final edited production. It’s not too late in some cases to add this to your current still coverage for 2010. email us for availability for your date!
Astors’ Beechwood was the location for our last event on Memorial Day weekend. It was a cool afternoon, but clear and just perfect light in the late afternoon on Bellevue. Lawrence Ellison’s new digs looked amazing, the centerpieces and flowers by Paul at Broadway Florist. The ceremony overlooked the Atlantic, followed by mojitos on the veranda, and a the reception in the famously gilded ballroom, with a dessert bar by Blackstone Catering that would tickle any sweet tooth. I wondered what Lady Astor might have thought of the goings on now that the property was under new ownership by the Oracle billionaire, whether the mansion will see more lavish events, or be silent. Still, it was a great way to go out, a fantastic wedding and party. Here’s the show.
We shot this session a few weeks back, as a bridal session, but it felt more like a fashion shoot for advertising. Because it was a bridal we had to keep it under wraps ’til the wedding but I could hardly wait to show off Sarah fabulous pix! Belle Mer was our location, and it’s South Beach flavor made for some gorgeous shots. From bling to shoes Sarah’s taste was impeccable. Slideshow.
Kayla and Justin visited from New York this Friday. Justin is tall so I was literally on my toes for a few shots. The light was perfect, and the weather felt like a summer day in June. A great session. Watch for the wedding at Belle Mer later this season…here’s the show.
The Viking Hotel was opened in 1926 to accommodate guests of Newport’s elite while attending gala parties at the mansions along Bellevue Ave. This weekend’s wedding included a fun intimate ceremony at the hotel’s adjacent Kay Chapel and a stop a Salve for portraits before returning to the famed Bellevue Room for the celebration. Classic Newport! View the slideshow
If things run too much according to plan, I don’t like it. This wedding ran so smooth, from the outrageously warm November day, to the beautiful sunset. I kept waiting for the unplanned to occur, the wrinkle we’d have to work around, but it just didn’t. Maybe it was the fact that everyone was so easy to work with and a lot of fun. Here’s the clip..
The storm was upon us, and it was raining- a lot. The flood watch was posted and it was not supposed to clear. My team shooter, Mark met me at the studio. “We are going at this full speed” I said, “and giving these clients a great shoot regardless of Danny” I have always felt weather is only part of the wedding story, a variable that can’t be controlled. The last thing you want is to surrender before the event, whether you are the photographer or the bride and groom. We were very lucky the clients had chosen Oceancliff, which gave us lots of options for rough weather. I was happy to find the bride in good spirits and looking beautiful. As we entered the church the rain began to slow, but the wind was gusting and the skies ominous. Exiting the church, we had an opportunity- it wasn’t raining, but it could begin at any moment. They didn’t care, we were going to go for it. Out on the drive, with the crashing surf and amazing sky, I was glad I had such an adventurous couple that lived in the moment. Congratulations to you both and thank you!
Emily’s has a great personality, and an infectious smile, just the client you want when rain drops send the plan off the prescribed path. Bobby is her perfect match, and the entire wedding party was on board for a great wedding even as Hurricane Danny start to sprinkle rain on us as it approached New England. The ceremony over, we photographed the group pictures and we proceeded outside. It wasn’t raining yet- but soon the drops began to fall on the lawn at Ochre Court. We went for it anyway, and even ventured out to the end of Cliffwalk for some wild wind and rainy pictures at dusk. At the reception, one of the guests remarked about what a wonderful wedding it was and how memorable an event. “If you have a son- name him Danny”!

Mark’s wedding this week was at an Armor & Martel favorite spot. Regatta Place is nestled in a sweet spot on Goat Island. Sheltered from the bay’s afternoon breeze, with a great view overlooking Newport Harbor, it’s a perfect venue for a Newport wedding. Jen and William’s wedding took place on property with a reception to follow. it’s always a fun party spot, and perfectly suited for this couple. Congratulations to both of you from all of us at Armor & Martel. Here’s the slideshow.
“I always prefer to work in the studio. It isolates people from their environment. They become in a sense . . .symbolic of themselves. I often feel that people come to me to be photographed as they would go to a doctor or a fortune teller - to find out how they are.” by Richard Avedon
